Chicago Meets Brooklyn + Bushwick Open Studios

It’s a fantastic weekend for lit in BK! Last night, a few of the contributing editors to Moonshot partnered with Brooklyn Spaces and CCLaP, who is on an NYC tour, to read at Book Thug Nation. Something was in the air in that intimate book shop, tempest winds blowing outside, trees stretched, almost like static electricity inside attaching to every word spoken.

Bushwick Open Studios was today, including Bushwick Open Pages at Duck Duck, one of the neighborhood’s best bars. Moonshot & Popsickle Festival tabled together out front, soaking in sun and chatting up strangers that passed. It was great to be able to represent Moonshot in a panel discussion about independent publishing amid industry-wide change. I got to hear about all the awesome work that NOÖ Journal, Purgatory Pie Press, & Vol. 1 Brooklyn are doing—reinforcing my belief that indie publishing is stronger than ever. After BOP Rohin & I packed up and wandered over to Grattan Street to scope out Truck Yeah (& possibly maybe scoped out some cocktails at The Narrows).
